To Whom it May Concern,

 The UNCC Women’s Rugby Club is constituted to promote interest in rugby football and to provide a place for personal growth in young women. We are a member of the North Carolina Rugby Union (NCRU) and the USA Rugby South as a Division II Collegiate Women’s team. As an official UNCC Club Sport and Student Organization, we are financially supported only by membership dues, funding from the UNCC Student Government Association (SGA), and local sponsorships. As our team continues to expand and gains tenure, we expect to cultivate strong relationships with our growing alumni and fan bases leading to additional backing. We are always looking to initiate and develop relationships with local businesses to acquire further support and become more involved in our community.

The UNCC Women’s Rugby Club aspires to use rugby football as an avenue through which we empower young women and enable them to learn skills that will help them attain success in their futures.  Proficiencies are learned on the field and enhanced through the other activities our club does together. Among the characteristics our players gain are increased self-confidence, independence, teamwork, communication, compassion, responsibility, and leadership.  The players learn skills in the areas of marketing and public relations, entrepreneurship, and accounting. There are many opportunities to enhance skills needed for any path a player may choose for her future.

In our outreach efforts, we strive to give back to the community in which we reside.  Our current philanthropy committee focuses on finding and organizing events for the team to partake in or contribute to.  We currently participate in an English as a second language (ESL) after school program, Firefly, in which we help elementary aged children with completion of homework, tutoring, even arts and crafts.   In previous years, we’ve participated in an awareness event on campus called Walking for Water, and have also volunteered with the Second Harvest Food Bank uptown. 

The students of the UNCC Women’s Rugby Club are solely responsible for attaining the support needed to maintain the organization, whether financial or via nonmonetary sponsorships and donations.  Businesses that assist our club are indirectly supporting the community; we put forth great effort to develop our individual players while simultaneously improving the area around us. With additional funding, supporters enable us to focus even more on philanthropic endeavors. Companies that back our team also benefit indirectly through our team, alumni, and fans, which are all far more inclined to patronize businesses that have supported us. 

As our team continues to expand boundlessly, we cordially invite you to join us along our journey. If you feel that you or your business is able to contribute in any way to our team, we would greatly appreciate it.  We are seeking opportunities for philanthropy, as well as both monetary and nonmonetary donations and sponsorships. If you feel you are unable to assist us in our endeavors at this time, we also understand. We ask only that you keep us in mind for a time in the future when you may be able to offer support, and make time to come out to one of our home games or check out our website!
