We're Leaving... On a Jet Plane

Thursday, December 15, 2011 the UNC Charlotte Women's 7s team is flying to College Station, TX for the  2011 USA Rugby Men's and Women's College Sevens National Championships!

This is an amazing opportunity and honor for our team.  We will be playing in front of national scouts and it will be steamed live for our friends and family to watch.

Raising the funds to go on such short notice was a daunting task, but with help we are all set.

Saturday December 17, 2011: 

Games TBD based on Friday's outcomes.  We will play at least two games.

Alumnae Day

Thank you to all the alumnae who came out in support of Saturday's game.  It was a quick game as UNCC had three to play on Saturday.

The current team was slow to react at first, letting the alumnae score early on.  Alumnae thought they were set, when the current team remembered how to communicate and came back to score two more tries.  A learning game for rookies, everyone had a great time and all came out winners.

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

There was fun done! There were points to be scored.  There were games to be won. And the magical things they did with that ball made them the winningest winners of all!

As our second year comes to a close, we say good-bye to some great players.   Each of the seniors spent many hours away from their books and on the pitch practicing, playing, and sharing their love of rugby with others. Three of our graduating seniors were a part of the original 5 that brought rugby back to UNCC. They will always be a huge part of the team's history. From the entire team, we congratulate you on your graduation and wish you the best of luck in the future.  Each of you will be missed and we hope to see you all when you come back to visit!

Alumni Weekend

September 18th, 2010

For their second game of the season, the UNC Charlotte women were proud to host their own alumni for an annual friendly match.  Due to the intense heat, a shortened game so a fairly even match up with a final score of 37-30.

After the men's alumni game that was to follow, both teams made a trip to the local Buffalo Wild Wing's for a fundraising event.  Thanks to the Alumni Association, who donated a great deal, the women's team was able to turn a profit, a percentage of which will be donated to the American Leukemia Foundation in honor of John Didenko, the father of Vinessa Didenko, a recent alumni to the UNCC team.

A special thanks to the Alumni Association, Buffalo Wild Wings and everyone who spent the afternoon supporting UNC Rugby!
