Relay for Life: TODAY

From 6pm to 6am the UNCC Women's Rugby team will be camping  on the Belk Track & Field to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  

As one of over 60 community groups, the team has worked for the past few months to raise money and awareness for this event.  Currently the team is in fifth place with $1460.00 raised.  

Because cancer never sleeps, neither will the team.  At all times throughout the night, some members will be walking the track while others man the booth in effort to raise more money.  The team will be selling hot chocolate, caricatures and have games on site.  Survivors, memorials, and those battling cancer now are welcome to join us as we honor all of those whose lives have been touched by this disease.

Give Blood, Play Rugby

We are taking a national catch phrase and putting it to use.  This Thursday, February 17, 2011 we are hosting a blood drive through the American Red Cross on campus.  Please join us at the Belk Tower from 11:30 am to 4pm and donate blood!

There will be T-shirt giveaways, stickers to show you gave blood, and we will be selling bracelets that say "Give Blood, Play Rugby."  All bracelet proceeds will go to our Relay for Life campaign.

Toys for Tots

After finding out that the Charlotte Metro Toys for Tots only has 7,500 toys thus far this year, we are doing a Toy drive.  We are looking for new unwrapped toys for children of all ages.  Nothing is too big or too small.

Families have been hit hard this year, and none of us are immune.  Children deserve something to open on Christmas morning.  The Toys for Tots program had 75,000 toys last year, and many groups relying on them.  This year they are having to make a waiting list and have extended their collections.  Please, donate a toy to us or your local fire station.  Every toy counts.

Alumni Weekend

September 18th, 2010

For their second game of the season, the UNC Charlotte women were proud to host their own alumni for an annual friendly match.  Due to the intense heat, a shortened game so a fairly even match up with a final score of 37-30.

After the men's alumni game that was to follow, both teams made a trip to the local Buffalo Wild Wing's for a fundraising event.  Thanks to the Alumni Association, who donated a great deal, the women's team was able to turn a profit, a percentage of which will be donated to the American Leukemia Foundation in honor of John Didenko, the father of Vinessa Didenko, a recent alumni to the UNCC team.

A special thanks to the Alumni Association, Buffalo Wild Wings and everyone who spent the afternoon supporting UNC Rugby!
